Jean-Pierre Sbraire is a senior French corporate executive and one of the key financial leaders at TotalEnergies SE, where he serves as Chief Financial Officer and has been a member of the Executive Committee since August 1, 2019. Born on October 28, 1965, he has spent most of his professional career within the company, building a deep understanding of the group’s businesses, assets and governance challenges. His background combines operational exposure, financial leadership and strategic oversight at one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies. Sbraire began his career at Total in 1990 in the Trading & Shipping division. In 1995, he moved into Exploration & Production, where he held a variety of positions in Paris and Nigeria, working across finance, economics and new business negotiations. This early experience gave him a strong operational foundation and international perspective, particularly in project development, financial control and capital allocation within complex upstream environments. In 2005, he was appointed General Secretary of Total’s subsidiaries in Venezuela, a role that typically brings together financial supervision, legal coordination and support for local operations. In 2009, he joined the Group Finance function as Vice President in charge of Financial Operations for Exploration & Production subsidiaries. In 2012, he became Vice President, Equity Crude Acquisitions within Trading & Shipping, reinforcing his expertise at the crossroads of market operations, trading and structured financial decision-making. From September 2016 to September 2017, he served as Group Treasurer, then became Deputy Chief Financial Officer before taking over the top finance role in 2019. As CFO, Sbraire plays a central role in maintaining financial discipline, overseeing funding strategy, monitoring balance-sheet strength and supporting the company’s investment capacity. His responsibilities are especially important in the context of TotalEnergies’ ongoing transformation into a broader multi-energy company, where capital allocation, cash generation and risk management are critical to long-term performance. He is a graduate of ENSTA ParisTech and holds a master’s degree from IFP School, reflecting a technical and industrial training that has supported his rise through the ranks of the group.
