How French insider declarations reach the AMF database
The AMF publishes the declarations itself
In France the regulator, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), makes a director's share dealing public. The director files the declaration on ONDE, the AMF's secure extranet, within three business days of the transaction, and the AMF posts it in its BDIF database. Article 19 of the EU Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) allows national law to give publication to the regulator, and France applies it together with article L. 621-18-2 of its Monetary and Financial Code.
Since 28 August 2026 the AMF publishes each declaration in French and in English. It made the change after the US SEC granted, on 5 March 2026, a conditional exemption to directors and officers of certain foreign private issuers, on condition that their home-country reports appear in English within two business days.
Who has to declare
The duty covers persons discharging managerial responsibilities: board members, and senior executives with regular access to inside information and power over the company's direction. It extends to their closely associated persons, meaning a spouse or equivalent partner, dependent children, a relative who has shared the household for at least a year, and companies or trusts they run or control.
Besides purchases and sales, MAR counts pledges and loans of shares, and trades a portfolio manager makes on the insider's behalf, including under a discretionary mandate.
A 50,000 euro threshold since December 2025
The Listing Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/2809, raised the EU reporting threshold from 5,000 to 20,000 euros per calendar year from 4 December 2024, and let each regulator set it at 10,000 or 50,000 euros instead. France chose the higher figure. Article 223-23 of the AMF General Regulation, amended by an order of 4 December 2025 and in force since 27 December 2025, exempts a person's dealings while their cumulative amount for the calendar year stays at or below 50,000 euros. The AMF told ESMA it expected around 12% fewer notifications.
Purchases and sales add up without netting. Once a person crosses the threshold, every later transaction that year must be declared.
Reading the French pages
The French feed is per-trade: each card is one declared transaction, linked to the AMF document when the source provides it, with amounts in euros. A director who buys 30,000 euros of stock over a year may leave no trace in the data, so a quiet French company can still have insider activity below the threshold. The methodology describes how we process these filings.
