Pascal Demurger is a well-known French mutual insurance executive whose career combines public-sector training, financial discipline and a strong commitment to corporate purpose. A graduate of ENA (Victor-Schoelcher class), he began his professional life as an adviser at the regional audit chamber in Aquitaine before joining the Budget Department at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance. This early experience gave him a strong grounding in public finance, institutional governance and policy execution. He later moved into the private mutual insurance world by joining MAIF in 2002, where he held several management roles before being appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2009. Since then, he has played a central role in reshaping the organization, focusing on network and business-line reorganization, a stronger customer-centric culture, and a management style built on trust, accountability and operational clarity. Under his leadership, MAIF has reinforced a long-term mutualist model in which social and environmental impact is not treated as an add-on, but as part of the core business logic. Demurger also built a significant profile in industry representation: he became Chairman of GEMA in 2014 and helped establish the Fédération Française de l’Assurance, where he served as Vice-Chairman from its creation in 2016 until July 2019. Beyond his executive duties, he has become an influential voice on mission-led companies and the ecological transition, notably through a 2019 book and broader public advocacy on the social role of business. Since 2023, he has also co-chaired the Impact France movement. At emeis, he serves as MAIF’s representative on the Board of Directors and sits on the Audit and Risks Committee, contributing expertise in governance, risk oversight and long-term strategic transformation.
