Jean-François Palus is a senior French executive with a long-standing reputation in luxury-group governance, finance, and transformation. A graduate of HEC Paris, he began his career at Arthur Andersen as an auditor and financial adviser before joining the Pinault group in 1991. Early in his career, he held a range of finance and operating roles across Pinault SA, FNAC, and Conforama, building broad expertise in controlling, retail operations, and business management. Within the group that later became Kering, Palus gradually moved into senior leadership. From 2005, he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, then became Kering’s Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO. He joined Kering’s Board in 2009. Over time, his remit expanded beyond finance to include oversight of strategic business units such as Sport & Lifestyle, reflecting a profile that combined capital discipline, portfolio management, and operational execution. Palus also built significant board-level experience outside the core Kering structure, notably as Chairman of the Administrative Board of PUMA SE from 2012. In July 2023, Kering appointed him to lead Gucci on a transitional basis, tasking him with strengthening the brand’s teams and operations, restoring momentum, and preparing the house’s future leadership and organization. In October 2024, Kering announced Stefano Cantino as Gucci’s new CEO, succeeding Palus.
