Jean-Etienne Gourgues is an international executive in the wines and spirits industry within Pernod Ricard, where he now holds a major leadership position as Executive Vice President, Global Brands, while also serving as Chairman and CEO of Chivas Brothers. His career reflects a steady rise through the group, with significant exposure to key Asian markets and to the management of global premium brands. He holds a Master’s degree from HEC Paris and joined Mumm & Perrier-Jouët Champagne in 2001 as Area Brand Manager after having worked in different industries. He later became Marketing and Development Manager, then Sales Director for Europe, with expanded worldwide responsibility from 2007. In 2008, he joined the Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët Executive Committee as Sales Director. In October 2011, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard Japan, before becoming Managing Director of Pernod Ricard China in July 2014. In these roles, he managed complex organizations in strategically important markets, particularly in Asia, where he helped drive commercial growth, brand premiumization and the group’s local market presence. Appointed Chairman and CEO of Chivas Brothers in July 2021, he then took on responsibility for Global Brands in August 2025, underscoring his central role in the group’s international strategy. He was also honored with the Shanghai Magnolia Award in 2018 in recognition of his contribution to Shanghai. His expertise spans brand marketing, distribution, international business development, change management and the leadership of premium businesses on a global scale.
