Guido Haak is a Franco-German automotive executive currently serving as Chief Program Officer at Renault Group. He joined Renault on February 1, 2022 as Executive Vice President, Advanced Products & Planning Group, where he was tasked with leading product strategy, range planning, and cross-functional roadmaps in close coordination with design, engineering, and regulatory compliance teams. More recently, Renault Group has restructured its leadership organization, and Haak remains central to product and program decision-making. Before joining Renault, Haak built a long career across the European automotive industry. He holds a degree from the Technical University of Berlin and a PhD in theoretical physics from the Free University of Berlin. His early career included four years of research and teaching in mathematics in the United States and Germany, followed by a move to McKinsey & Company in 1998 as a consultant focused on high-tech and automotive clients across Europe, the US, and Japan. That combination of academic rigor and strategic consulting gave him a strong foundation for senior industrial leadership. In 2005, Haak joined Volkswagen Group, where he became responsible for Audi’s first modular framework. He later held positions in product management, strategy, and marketing across the Audi and Volkswagen brands. In 2015, he was appointed Head of Product Management at Škoda Auto in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, where he supported the brand’s growth strategy and the electrification of its lineup. These roles gave him deep expertise in vehicle architecture, portfolio planning, market positioning, and EV transformation. At Renault, Haak has become a key figure in product and program execution. His remit has included shaping future vehicles and line-ups, synchronizing technology and innovation roadmaps, and ensuring the portfolio matches customer demand while supporting profitability and industrial discipline. Within Renault Group’s transformation agenda, his role sits at the intersection of strategy, product definition, and operational execution, making him an important leader in the company’s ongoing reinvention.
