Ralf Ackermann is an international executive and investor with deep experience in opportunistic credit, distressed debt and special situations. In the context of Latécoère, the listed aerospace supplier and tier-one partner to major aircraft manufacturers, he served as a representative of the majority shareholder, Searchlight Capital Partners, on the company’s Board of Directors. He was appointed to Latécoère’s board in 2019 and stepped down from that directorship in December 2023, after several years of involvement in the company’s strategic oversight during a period of governance and transformation work. His career was built in investment banking and private capital. Ackermann started at Greenhill & Co. in Frankfurt and London, where he worked in M&A and financial restructuring. He then joined Goldman Sachs in 2004, focusing on distressed debt and stressed situations. In 2007, he moved to Apollo Global Management in London, where he led the European Opportunistic Credit fund and served on the firm’s European Management Committee. That role gave him broad exposure to capital structure analysis, complex refinancings, debt investing and the management of companies facing financial or operational pressure. In 2018, Ackermann joined Searchlight Capital Partners as a partner in London. At Searchlight, he has been involved in European investments across several sectors, bringing his restructuring background and value-creation mindset to portfolio companies. At Latécoère, his role was particularly relevant during the period following Searchlight’s investment, as the group focused on improving industrial performance, securing supply chains and supporting production ramp-up across key aerospace programs. Ralf Ackermann holds a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics. His professional profile combines strong financial acumen, a rigorous approach to stressed and complex situations, and the ability to work with management teams on turnaround, growth and sector consolidation strategies. This makes him well suited to governance roles in companies undergoing strategic change, especially in industrial and capital-intensive businesses.
