Philippe Krief is a French automotive executive widely recognized for his deep expertise in vehicle engineering, chassis dynamics, and the development of high-performance and premium sports cars. Born in 1965 and educated at the École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées in Paris, he has built a career spanning more than 35 years across major industrial groups, earning a reputation as both a highly technical engineer and a product-focused leader. He began his career at Michelin, where he spent more than a decade developing a strong foundation in industrial rigor, performance engineering, and quality standards. He then joined the FIAT Group in 1998, where he worked until 2011 and held key responsibilities in chassis engineering, a discipline that is central to ride quality, handling, and driving feel. Krief later moved into the luxury and performance segment with Ferrari and Maserati. At Ferrari, he served as vehicle department director, and at Alfa Romeo he became technical director, overseeing major programs such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, as well as the Ferrari 458 Speciale. In 2016, he returned to Ferrari, where he served as Director of Engineering and Head of Research and Development, further strengthening his standing in the world of sports and prestige vehicles. In March 2023, Krief joined Alpine as Director of Engineering and Product Performance. Just a few months later, on July 20, 2023, he was appointed CEO of the Alpine brand. That appointment reflected his rare combination of technical depth and strategic leadership. At Alpine, he is responsible for guiding the brand through a major transformation as electrification reshapes the sports-car market. His work focuses on preserving Alpine’s core identity—lightness, agility, and precision—while accelerating the next chapter of the brand’s product strategy, including models such as the A290 and A390 and a more differentiated product portfolio. From September 2024 to August 2025, he also served as CTO of Renault Group, underscoring his importance in the group’s technology leadership. From September 1, 2025, he remains fully dedicated to Alpine as CEO, reporting to Renault Group’s CEO.
