Josep Maria Recasens is a senior automotive executive at Renault Group, where he now holds some of the company’s most strategic leadership responsibilities. He joined Renault Group in July 2021 as SVP, Strategy and Business Development, and later expanded his remit to include leadership of the Iberian Peninsula. In March 2025, Renault announced that he would become CEO of Ampere, the Group’s electric-vehicle and software arm, a key platform in Renault’s broader electrification and digital transformation. In November 2025, Renault further appointed him Chief Strategy, Product & Program Management Officer, strengthening his influence over the company’s strategic direction, product portfolio and program execution. Before joining Renault, Recasens built a long career at SEAT, where he held a range of management roles in research and development, product planning, international project management, strategy, public affairs and general secretariat functions. This background gave him a deep understanding of Europe’s automotive industry, including product development, industrial execution and the regulatory landscape. Renault’s own materials note that he joined SEAT in 2002 and went on to hold several leadership positions before moving to Renault Group. At Renault, he has become a key figure in the Group’s transformation, particularly on strategy, electrification, program governance and product alignment. His appointment as CEO of Ampere was especially significant because Ampere sits at the center of Renault’s ambitions in EVs and software, two critical competitive battlegrounds for the automotive sector. Across his current roles, Recasens helps shape the industrial roadmap, accelerate execution and reinforce Renault’s positioning in fast-moving technology-driven markets.
