Mariel von Schumann is an independent director of SPIE SA, the international multi-technical services group, where she brings deep experience in corporate transformation, governance, and the oversight of complex corporate functions. She holds a Bachelor in Economics and Management from ICHEC in Brussels and a Master in Economics and International Management from ESCP Paris, Oxford and Berlin. Her academic background and pan-European career have given her a broad perspective on listed-company governance, strategic execution, and organizational change. She began her career in product management at Digital Equipment Corporation in Geneva and Boston before joining Siemens, where she spent more than 20 years, from 1999 to 2020, in various senior executive roles in Munich. From 2013 onward, as Chief Transformation Officer, she was instrumental in designing and implementing Siemens’ strategic transformation. In that role, she was responsible for a diversified portfolio of corporate functions and initiatives, including investor relations, government affairs, and corporate structure. This experience positioned her as a senior leader with strong capabilities in portfolio simplification, stakeholder management, and large-scale change programs. Following Siemens, she moved into high-level board and supervisory roles. She currently serves as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Verti Versicherung AG in Berlin and as a member of the Supervisory Boards of Agora Strategy Group in Munich and Seatrium in Singapore. At SPIE, she also sits on the Nomination and Compensation Committee and the CSR and Governance Committee, placing her at the center of succession planning, executive remuneration, and the integration of sustainability and governance priorities into board oversight. Her profile combines industrial leadership, transformation expertise, and significant international board experience, making her a valuable contributor to SPIE’s governance framework.
