Marie-Claire Daveu is a French executive widely recognized for her long-standing expertise in sustainability, environmental transition and corporate governance. She graduated from France’s National Institute of Agricultural Sciences in 1995, holds a Master’s degree in public administration from Paris-Dauphine University, and is an engineer of the Corps des Ponts, des Eaux et des Forêts. She began her career in the public sector, first with the Regional Division for Agriculture and Forestry in Manche, and then in senior roles within the ministry responsible for the environment and in ministerial offices focused on ecology and sustainable development. Her early career included serving as technical adviser on ecology and sustainable development in the office of Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, followed by Chief of Staff to Serge Lepeltier at the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development. She later moved into the private sector in 2005, joining Sanofi-Aventis as Director of Sustainable Development. In 2007, she returned to government as Chief of Staff to Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, working across several ministerial portfolios tied to ecology, sustainable development, transport, housing and digital economic development. In 2012, she joined Kering as Director of Sustainable Development and International Institutional Relations, while also serving on the Group Executive Committee. This combination of public-policy and corporate leadership roles gave her a broad view of climate strategy, regulatory affairs and stakeholder engagement. At ENGIE, Marie-Claire Daveu was proposed and appointed as an independent director in 2022 for a four-year term. She serves as Chair of the Ethics, Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, a particularly strategic position for a company whose business model is centered on the energy transition and decarbonization. Her profile brings together deep policy expertise, ESG leadership and international corporate experience. At board level, she helps oversee non-financial strategy, strengthen governance practices and ensure sustainability priorities are embedded in ENGIE’s strategic decisions.
