Marie Cheval is a French senior executive known for her expertise in finance, digital transformation, retail, and commercial real estate. A graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the École nationale d’administration (ENA), she began her career in 1999 at the French General Inspectorate of Finance. That early experience gave her a strong foundation in public finance, performance management, and governance, which later proved valuable in private-sector leadership roles. She then joined La Poste Group, where she held several senior positions from 2002 to 2011. Her responsibilities included financial services strategy, marketing and sales, and operations. This period helped her build deep operational discipline and a strong customer-oriented mindset. In 2011, she moved to Société Générale, where she became head of global transaction and payment services. Two years later, she was appointed CEO of Boursorama. In that role, she gained significant experience in digital banking, innovation, and scaling a highly competitive online business model. In 2017, Marie Cheval joined Carrefour as Executive Director for Customers, Services and Digital Transformation for the Group and France. In 2018, she was appointed Executive Director of Carrefour Hypermarkets France, where she was responsible for driving the transformation of the operational and commercial model of a key retail format for the group. This role strengthened her visibility as a leader capable of managing change at scale within a large listed company. She became a Carmila board member in 2018 and was appointed Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Carmila on November 3, 2020. At Carmila, she leads one of Europe’s major listed commercial property platforms, focused on shopping centres anchored by Carrefour hypermarkets. Her leadership is associated with strategic continuity, portfolio development, stronger synergies with Carrefour, and the successful integration of Galimmo into Carmila’s platform. She also places strong emphasis on CSR, inclusion, and gender equality, reflecting a governance style that combines operational execution with long-term stakeholder value creation.
