Laurent Favre is a French industrial executive best known for his leadership of OPmobility SE, formerly Plastic Omnium, during a major strategic transition. An engineer by training, he holds a degree from ESTACA (École Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile). He began his career in Germany in the automotive industry, an experience that gave him a strong understanding of European manufacturing ecosystems, supplier relationships, and operational excellence. OPmobility’s governance documentation states that he spent more than twenty years in senior roles at leading German automotive suppliers, including ThyssenKrupp, ZF, and Benteler, where he served as CEO of the Automotive Division. Before joining OPmobility, Favre held top management positions in major industrial groups. He served as CEO of Benteler Automotive after having been COO there, and earlier he was managing director of ABB’s Transformers business unit starting in 2018. These roles helped him build a reputation for disciplined industrial management, margin improvement, transformation leadership, and the ability to steer large international organizations through changing market conditions. Favre became CEO of OPmobility in January 2020. At the helm of the group, he led a period of strategic transformation focused on global diversification, electrification, and the development of technology-driven mobility solutions. OPmobility has credited him with helping drive the company’s broader transformation, including expansion into new mobility players and the strengthening of its sustainable-mobility positioning. His tenure coincided with an important governance and branding shift, including the company’s rebranding from Plastic Omnium to OPmobility in 2024. In November 2025, the board noted his resignation as CEO for personal reasons, bringing to a close nearly six years at the head of the group. In hindsight, his mandate is associated with accelerating OPmobility’s transition from a traditional automotive supplier into a more global, diversified mobility technology partner with stronger exposure to electrification, digital innovation, and sustainable solutions.
