Gauthier Louette is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SPIE SA, the European multi-technical services group active in energy and communications infrastructure. A graduate of École Polytechnique (X81) and ENSTA, he spent virtually his entire career at SPIE after joining the company in 1986 as a site engineer. His progression through the organization — from project engineer to project manager and then operations manager — gave him a deep operational understanding of the business, its engineering disciplines, and the requirements of large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. In 1998, he was appointed Managing Director of Spie Capag, SPIE’s pipeline division, where he gained experience leading a technically demanding and capital-intensive business line. Two years later, in 2000, he became head of SPIE Energie Services’ Oil & Gas branch, further strengthening his expertise in complex industrial environments where safety, reliability, and execution discipline are critical. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of SPIE in 2003 and became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 2010. Over time, he emerged as the key figure behind SPIE’s long-term transformation into a leading pan-European player. Under his leadership, SPIE pursued a strategy built on disciplined growth, technical specialization, and a strong European footprint. Louette is widely associated with the group’s ability to combine operational excellence with strategic continuity, while positioning SPIE to benefit from the energy transition and the rising demand for efficient, low-carbon technical services. In March 2024, he unveiled SPIE’s purpose, highlighting his role in shaping the company’s strategic identity and its contribution to society. He has also supported governance and responsible business initiatives, including employee shareholding and greener executive remuneration. After more than 40 years with the company, he announced that he would not seek renewal of his mandate beyond the annual general meeting on 30 April 2026, bringing to a close a long and influential tenure at one of France’s prominent listed industrial services groups.
