Ramon Fernandez is a senior French executive recognized for a career spanning public finance, corporate strategy, and the governance of large listed groups. He currently holds a leading position at CMA CGM, where he serves as Executive Vice-President in charge of Strategy and M&A. In this role, he helps shape the group’s growth roadmap, evaluates investment opportunities, and supports major strategic transactions for the global shipping and logistics leader. Before joining CMA CGM, Fernandez built substantial experience in telecommunications at Orange, where he spent nine years in senior leadership positions, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for financial performance and development. That experience strengthened his expertise in financial steering, capital allocation, corporate transformation, and large-scale operational performance management. His career originally took shape in the public sector. He served as Director General of the French Treasury from 2009 to 2014, after holding senior positions at the French Ministry of Labour and serving as economic adviser to the President of the French Republic. These roles gave him a strong understanding of economic policy, institutional relations, and macro-financial balance. Within the listed-company universe, Fernandez is also known for representing CMA CGM on the Board of Directors of Eutelsat Communications, a role to which he was appointed in September 2025. This board appointment reflects CMA CGM’s strategic interest in infrastructure, connectivity, and digital sovereignty assets. His background as a finance and strategy executive, combined with deep experience in regulated environments and complex transactions, makes him an important figure in long-term corporate decision-making, especially in capital structure optimization, growth by acquisition, and strategic partnerships.
