Laurent Mignon is a prominent French financial executive and corporate governance leader with a career spanning investment banking, insurance, asset management, and large-cap listed companies. He graduated from HEC Paris in 1986 and from Stanford’s Executive Program. He began his career at Banque Indosuez, later worked at Schroders and AGF, where he held senior finance and management roles, including Chief Financial Officer and subsequently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He then served as managing partner at Oddo & Cie before joining Natixis in 2009 as Chief Executive Officer and later becoming head of the BPCE group in 2018. Since December 2022, he has served as Chairman of Wendel’s Executive Board. In this role, he oversees a long-term investment strategy focused on value creation, portfolio development, and the strengthening of Wendel’s position across high-quality holdings and asset-management activities. Wendel has emphasized that Mignon brings extensive experience in leading transformations and creating long-term value, built through top leadership positions in highly regulated and complex financial institutions. He is also a key governance figure at Bureau Veritas, where he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2023. That appointment came alongside a broader governance evolution, including the appointment of Hinda Gharbi as Chief Executive Officer and a rebalancing of board committees. Wendel states that Mignon also chairs the strategic committee connected with Bureau Veritas within its governance framework. Mignon’s reputation is closely tied to strategic transformation, capital allocation discipline, ESG oversight, and long-term value creation. At BPCE, he led a major cooperative banking group through a period of consolidation and development, and at Wendel he has brought that experience to an investment platform that seeks durable performance across its portfolio. His career reflects a rare combination of operational leadership, financial expertise, and board-level governance experience across listed and regulated businesses.
