Xavier Huillard is a leading figure in French corporate governance and one of the most influential executives in VINCI’s modern history. A graduate of École Polytechnique and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, he began his career in public administration, working first in a local public works and planning department and later at the ministry responsible for infrastructure-related international business. He then moved into the concessions and construction sector, where he built a long career in operational leadership, international development, and the management of large listed groups. Huillard joined SGE in 1996 as head of international business at SOGEA and became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of that company in 1998. In 2000, he was appointed Chairman of VINCI Construction. Two years later, he took charge of VINCI Energies, leading its growth across Europe. In 2006, he became Chief Executive Officer of VINCI and also Chairman of VINCI Concessions, and in 2010 he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VINCI. That role made him the central architect of the group’s strategy for many years, as VINCI expanded its international footprint and strengthened its position in concessions, energy solutions, and construction. In 2025, VINCI changed its governance structure: Huillard moved to the role of Chairman of the Board, while Pierre Anjolras became Chief Executive Officer. This transition preserved Huillard’s influence at board level while separating the chairmanship from executive management. Throughout his tenure, he has been associated with major strategic priorities such as long-term value creation, disciplined capital allocation, international expansion, and the development of infrastructure assets with stable cash generation. He has also held broader institutional roles, including Chairman of the Institut de l’Entreprise and Chairman of the VINCI Foundation for the City, reflecting a profile that combines industrial leadership, governance experience, and social engagement. As a long-serving director and former chief executive, Xavier Huillard remains a reference point in French listed-company governance and in the infrastructure sector.
