Thierry Sommelet is a French business leader best known for his long-standing career in investment, growth capital and the Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) sectors. At Worldline, he serves as a board member appointed on the proposal of Bpifrance and sits on the nomination committee, remuneration committee and investment committee. This position reflects a profile centered on governance, capital allocation and value creation in technology-driven and highly regulated businesses. He is currently Director of the Capital Development department at Bpifrance Investissement, with responsibility for the TMT sector, and is also a member of Bpifrance Investissement’s executive committee. Sommelet has more than twenty years of investment experience in both listed and unlisted companies, giving him a deep understanding of growth, transformation and consolidation dynamics in the digital and technology ecosystem. That background makes him particularly relevant for a company such as Worldline, one of Europe’s leading payment services groups. His career began in capital markets at Crédit Commercial de France in 1992, first in Paris and then in New York. He later joined Renaissance Software in London, where he managed a financial engineering team, before becoming Deputy Chief Executive Officer of InfosCE in 2001. In 2002, he moved to the investments and digital holdings division of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, which he went on to lead in 2007. He then joined the Fonds Stratégique d’Investissement in 2009 and became part of Bpifrance when it was created in 2013. Sommelet graduated from the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and holds an MBA from INSEAD. His background combines engineering training, international financial expertise and strategic investment experience. At Worldline, he contributes to long-term governance, strategic oversight and financial discipline, supporting a group that has been evolving rapidly in the European payments industry.
