Antoine Gosset-Grainville is widely recognized in French corporate circles as a leading governance figure and, most notably, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of AXA. His current mandate runs from April 23, 2024 to the 2028 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting, following his first appointment as a director in June 2020 and his elevation to Chairman in April 2022. At AXA, he plays a central role in board oversight, strategic supervision, and governance matters for one of Europe’s largest listed insurance groups. He graduated from the Institut d’études politiques de Paris and holds a postgraduate degree in banking and finance from the University of Paris IX Dauphine. He is also an alumnus of the French École nationale d’administration and was admitted to the Paris and Brussels Bars in 2002. He began his career in 1993 at the Inspection Générale des Finances, then moved into senior European public-service roles, including Deputy Secretary-General of the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Union and adviser for economic and industrial affairs in the office of the European Commissioner for Trade. This early public-policy experience gave him deep expertise in regulation, economic affairs, and institutional negotiations. In 2002, he joined Gide as a partner and led the Brussels office for five years, broadening his experience in competition law, EU regulation, and cross-border corporate issues. In 2007, he became Deputy Director of the French Prime Minister’s office, responsible for economic and financial affairs as well as the State’s shareholding policy. In 2010, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, overseeing finance, strategy, investments, subsidiaries, and international operations, and later served as interim CEO of the group in 2012. In 2013, he co-founded BDGS Associés, a respected business law firm. Overall, his career combines senior public administration, European affairs, legal advisory leadership, and board-level governance, which makes him particularly well suited to chair AXA’s board and support the group’s long-term strategic direction.
