Thierry Piéton is a French finance executive known for his international career and for his key contribution to Renault Group’s transformation. He graduated from EM Lyon Business School and began his career in 1995 as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, building a strong foundation in audit, internal control and financial discipline. In 1998, he joined General Electric, where he held a series of finance roles across the Healthcare division before becoming CFO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at GE Security in 2004. He then advanced within GE by serving as Global Financial Planning & Analysis Manager at GE Consumer & Industrial, CFO of GE Oil & Gas Global Services in 2007, and CFO of GE Power Conversion in 2011. This broad international experience gave him deep expertise in performance management, financial structuring and industrial complexity. In May 2014, Thierry Piéton joined Nissan Europe as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, before moving to Renault in June 2016 as Senior Vice President, Controller. He was later appointed Deputy Chief Financial Officer and SVP, Controller in February 2020, and in January 2021 took responsibility for Renault brand finance. On March 1, 2022, he was named Chief Financial Officer of Renault Group and joined the Board of Management, before becoming part of the Leadership Team in February 2023. In this role, he supported the execution of the Renaulution strategic plan, stronger financial discipline, cash-flow management and the recovery of profitability. His tenure at Renault was associated with a significant strengthening of the Group’s financial profile during a period of major industrial, electric-vehicle and organizational transformation. At the end of February 2025, he announced his departure from Renault Group after nearly nine years in the company’s finance leadership.
