Sylvie Rucar is a French corporate governance professional widely recognized for her deep expertise in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, treasury, and restructuring. As an independent director of Alstom, she serves on the company’s board and has also contributed to key board committees, including the Audit and Risks Committee and the Nominations and Remuneration Committee. Her mandate was renewed by Alstom’s 2023 annual general meeting, reflecting shareholders’ continued confidence in her judgment, independence, and governance experience. A graduate of ESCP-Europe Business School, Rucar began her career in 1978 at Citroën, part of the PSA Group. She then joined PSA’s finance organization in 1984, where she spent more than two decades in senior financial roles covering mergers and acquisitions, financial control, international finance, and treasury. She ultimately became Group Treasurer and later Chief Financial Officer and Chairman of PSA Finance Bank, while also serving on PSA Group’s management committee. This long tenure gave her a broad operational understanding of industrial finance, banking activities, and capital structure management within a major listed group. In early 2008, she joined Société Générale as Deputy CFO and Chief Operating Officer of the group’s Investor Services business, before moving to Cogepa in 2009. Since 2010, she has worked as an independent advisor in financial management, M&A, and corporate restructuring through her own firm, while also serving as Senior Advisor to AlixPartners. She has held other board positions in French companies, including CFAO, where she chaired the Audit Committee. Overall, Sylvie Rucar’s career combines high-level financial leadership with a strong governance profile, making her a particularly valuable independent director in a complex industrial company such as Alstom.
