Dr. Amit Sinha is a senior technology executive with deep experience in cybersecurity, wireless networking, and cloud operations. He is best known for his long tenure at Zscaler, Inc., a U.S.-listed cloud security company on the NASDAQ. Public company disclosures show that he has served as Zscaler’s Chief Technology Officer since December 2010, as Executive Vice President of Engineering and Cloud Operations from October 2013, and later as President of R&D, Operations and Customer Service beginning in July 2019. He has also served on Zscaler’s Board of Directors since May 2017. His responsibilities therefore spanned technology strategy, engineering execution, cloud operations, and customer service leadership. Before joining Zscaler, Dr. Sinha held senior roles in the wireless security and networking industry. He was Fellow and Chief Technologist for Motorola’s Enterprise Networking and Communication business. He also served as CTO of AirDefense, a market leader in wireless security that Motorola acquired in 2008. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Engim, a Wi‑Fi semiconductor company, where he served as Co-Founder and Chief Technologist. This background indicates extensive expertise in network architecture, security platforms, product engineering, and scaling technical organizations in fast-moving markets. Academically, he earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.Tech. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Zscaler has also stated that he has authored more than 25 papers, contributed chapters to three books, and is the inventor of 19 U.S. patents granted or pending. Among his notable achievements, he helped guide Zscaler’s technology platform during a period of rapid growth and played a key role in the company’s transition from a pure technology function to broader operational leadership. In October 2022, Zscaler announced that he would step down from executive duties after accepting a CEO position at a privately held technology company, while continuing to serve as a board member.
