Sébastien Arbola is a French corporate executive known for his expertise in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, international strategy, and organizational transformation. A graduate of the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris, he built most of his career across major financial and energy groups, with a strong focus on growth, portfolio management, and asset optimization. He began his career at BNP Paribas, where he held several finance roles from 1999 to 2006, before joining Suez and later ENGIE during the broader transition from Suez to GDF and GDF SUEZ. At ENGIE, he first took on responsibilities within the Corporate Finance teams and was then appointed Group M&A Director in 2011. In that role, he contributed to major strategic transactions and asset rotation initiatives, helping shape the group’s portfolio during a period of significant change. In 2013, he became Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Asian environmental operations at Suez Environnement, based in Hong Kong, which expanded his international exposure and deepened his operational leadership experience. In 2016, Arbola was appointed CEO of ENGIE’s Middle East, South & Central Asia and Turkey business unit, and from 2021 Africa was added to his scope, increasing his responsibility across fast-growing geographies. He oversaw activities ranging from large-scale power generation to water desalination, gas distribution, and energy retail. This gave him substantial experience in managing asset-intensive businesses, public-private partnerships, and complex multi-country operations. Since 2021, he has been among ENGIE’s top executives, first overseeing Thermal Power Generation and Energy Supply, and, as of July 2025, serving as Executive Vice President in charge of Data, Digital & IT, Strategy, and Research & Innovation. His career reflects a versatile leadership profile at the intersection of finance, strategy, and industrial transformation. He is therefore a key executive in ENGIE’s governance and execution framework, supporting the group’s strategic reorganization, capital discipline, and growth ambitions across energy and digital solutions.
