Olivier Bouygues is a key figure in Bouygues’ corporate governance and has served on the company’s Board of Directors since 5 June 1984. A graduate of ESTP and ENSPM, he joined the Bouygues group in 1974 and began his career in the civil works division, overseeing road infrastructure projects before moving into pricing studies for international projects, including the Bosphorus tunnel. This early operational background gave him a strong technical and industrial foundation that shaped his later executive responsibilities. During the 1980s and 1990s, he held several senior management roles across the Group. At Bouygues Offshore, he led Boscam, the Group’s Cameroonian subsidiary, and then the France Works and Special Projects businesses. He successfully turned around Boscam’s financial performance and built recognised expertise in major complex works. As Chairman and CEO of Maison Bouygues from 1988 to 1992, he helped scale the company’s single-family housing business, significantly increasing delivery volumes. In 1992, he became Group Executive Vice President in charge of Utilities Management, bringing together Saur’s French and international activities. He later served as Chairman of Saur from 1997 to 2003, during which he oversaw the integration of Cise and helped transform Saur into the world’s third-largest utilities operator. Appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Bouygues in 2002, a role he held until August 2020, Olivier Bouygues also became an important advocate for corporate sustainability within the Group. In 2005, he initiated the creation of Bouygues’ Sustainable Development department, embedding CSR priorities into the strategy of the Group’s businesses, with a focus on reducing environmental impact and improving working conditions. Beyond Bouygues SA, he serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SCDM, the family-controlled investment company that anchors the Bouygues shareholding structure. He remains a director of Bouygues and Bouygues Telecom, and a non-voting director of Bouygues Construction and Bouygues Immobilier. His career reflects a blend of operational leadership, portfolio transformation, long-term governance and stakeholder-focused stewardship. Decorated as a Knight of the Legion of Honour and honored in Côte d’Ivoire, Olivier Bouygues represents a generation of executives who supported Bouygues’ diversification and international growth while reinforcing its governance stability and sustainability agenda.
