Matthieu Malige is a well-established executive in the financial governance of large listed retail groups in Europe. Since October 16, 2017, he has served as Chief Financial Officer of Carrefour Group, following senior finance roles at Fnac Darty. At Carrefour, he sits close to the top decision-making circle and plays a key role in performance management, financial discipline, and the execution of the group’s strategic transformation. Carrefour’s 2024 corporate governance materials still identify him as Group CFO, confirming the continuity and importance of his role. He holds degrees from HEC Paris and the École des Travaux Publics, and earned a Master of Science from UCLA. He began his career at Lazard Frères, where he developed a strong foundation in corporate finance, advisory work, and strategic analysis. He then joined Carrefour, where from 2003 to 2011 he held several important positions: Director of Strategy and Development, CFO of Carrefour Belgium, and CFO of Carrefour France. This first chapter at Carrefour gave him deep operational insight into the group’s business model, international footprint, and profitability drivers. In 2011, Malige became CFO of Fnac, and in July 2016 he was appointed Group CFO of Fnac Darty following the acquisition of Darty. That period strengthened his expertise in transformation programs, post-merger integration, and financial structuring in a highly competitive retail environment. His return to Carrefour in 2017 reflected the group’s need for a seasoned finance leader capable of supporting investment decisions, protecting the balance sheet, and contributing to the execution of the company’s transformation agenda. Within a multinational group such as Carrefour, Matthieu Malige is naturally associated with high-stakes finance topics: capital allocation, balance sheet optimization, operational performance, investor relations, and strategic trade-offs. His background combines investment banking, international experience, and long-standing familiarity with Carrefour, making him a prominent executive in the governance and financial transformation of listed companies.
