Hervé Dammann is a senior industrial executive in the defence and aerospace sectors and today one of the key leaders of Thales’s Land and Air Systems division. He graduated as an engineer from Polytech Lille in 1992 and later completed the 48th national session on “Armament and Defence Economy” at IHEDN in 2012. This background reflects a profile shaped at the intersection of industry, technology, defence policy and international business. He began his career at Thomson Broadcast Systems in Milan, Italy, first as a sales engineer and later as Country Manager for Italy until 2000. He then joined Nextream, a joint venture between Alcatel and Thomson, as Sales Director for pay-TV operators. From 2003 to 2009, he worked for Thomson, later Technicolor, where he led the Solutions & Projects department and then headed the Systems Integration business unit in the audiovisual segment. These roles built strong expertise in complex sales, systems integration and international market development. In 2009, Hervé Dammann joined Thales and held several positions within Thales Air Systems, across both civil and defence activities. In 2016, he became Sales Vice President for Land and Air Systems. In 2018, he was appointed Senior Vice President for Latin America, Asia and Eurasia, and in 2020 Senior Vice President for Europe and International Organizations. In October 2023, he was appointed Executive Vice-President, Land and Air Systems, and joined the Thales Executive Committee. In this role, he oversees a major Thales business covering radar, air defence, optronics, land systems and air traffic management, with more than 12,000 employees across 24 countries. His remit is central to European sovereignty and security priorities, including air defence programmes, counter-drone capabilities and industrial ramp-up. His career shows a consistent progression toward broader strategic responsibilities, combining commercial leadership, operational execution and international growth within one of Europe’s leading defence technology groups.
