Didier Domange is a well-known figure in French industrial governance and listed-company oversight, with a career closely associated with the aerospace and equipment sectors. Born in 1943 and a graduate of the École Supérieure de Commerce du Havre, he began his professional journey in 1966 within the Domange family business as supply chain manager. He later served on the management committee of Établissements Domange from 1970 to 1980, building a strong operational background in industrial management, supply-chain coordination and business oversight. His early career established a reputation for combining hands-on industrial know-how with a long-term strategic mindset. His most prominent leadership role was at Zodiac, where he became a director in 1996 and, earlier in his career, had served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Following Zodiac’s listing in 1983, he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board, a position he held until January 2018. During this long tenure, he oversaw major phases of the company’s evolution, including international growth, business diversification and the strengthening of Zodiac’s position in aerospace systems and cabin equipment. He also took on important governance responsibilities, including chairing the compensation committee and serving on the audit and selection committees of Zodiac Aerospace, which highlights his deep expertise in governance, executive compensation and financial supervision. In connection with Safran, Didier Domange was proposed and appointed as a director in 2018, as part of the group’s broader integration of Zodiac Aerospace. His appointment reflected Safran’s desire to benefit from his sector experience, his historical understanding of Zodiac’s businesses and his familiarity with the governance challenges of a major listed industrial group. He also joined Safran’s Appointments and Compensation Committee. Outside Safran, he has held roles at Fidoma and has represented CICOR on the board of Banque Transatlantique. Overall, his career reflects a rare combination of industrial leadership, board-level discipline and long-standing involvement in France’s aerospace governance ecosystem.
