Benoit Bazin is one of the leading figures in French corporate governance and currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, a role he assumed on 6 June 2024. He had previously been Chief Executive Officer since 1 July 2021. His appointment reflects a long internal career marked by successive operational and strategic responsibilities, as well as a central role in the company’s international transformation. Bazin studied in France and the United States and started his professional life in the public sector, working for the French Ministry of Finance at the CIRI and the Treasury Department before joining Saint-Gobain in 1999. He first held corporate planning responsibilities in the abrasives business and then moved through increasingly senior roles at group level and in operating divisions. Over time, he gained broad exposure to strategy, finance, industrial operations and international management, which became the foundation of his leadership profile. Within Saint-Gobain, he progressed into major executive positions, including chief financial responsibilities and later senior operating roles across key businesses and geographies. He notably led CertainTeed Corporation in the United States in 2017 and then served as Chief Operating Officer of Saint-Gobain from 2019 to 2021. These positions gave him hands-on experience in large-scale industrial management, commercial execution and portfolio optimization across construction-related markets. As Saint-Gobain’s top executive, Bazin has been associated with a strategy focused on portfolio reshaping, geographic rebalancing and capital discipline. The group has continued to strengthen its presence in North America and Asia while increasing exposure to construction chemicals and higher-value solutions.
