Agnès Lemarchand is a French business leader widely recognized for her extensive experience in industry, corporate governance, and senior executive management. She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris (ENSCP), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and holds an MBA from INSEAD. She began her professional career within the Rhône-Poulenc group, where she held various operational roles from 1980 to 1985. In 1986, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Industrie Biologique Française (IBF), a Rhône-Poulenc company linked to the Institut Mérieux ecosystem, and later founded IBF Biotechnics in the United States, where she served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Her career then expanded into major leadership roles in international industrial groups. She served as CEO of Prodical, a subsidiary of Ciments Français, and later led the lime business of Lafarge. In 2005, she founded Steetley Dolomite Ltd. in the United Kingdom and chaired the company for several years. Her professional background therefore combines operational leadership, business turnaround and transformation, international development, and value creation in complex industrial environments. Agnès Lemarchand also built a strong reputation as an independent director for several listed or prominent companies, including Saint-Gobain, CGG, Solvay, and bioMérieux. At bioMérieux, she was appointed independent director in 2014, at a time when the group was strengthening its governance with experienced board members able to support its international growth strategy in in vitro diagnostics. She contributed expertise in industry, strategic finance, corporate governance, and committee oversight. Her profile is also marked by active involvement in economic and industrial advisory bodies, particularly on topics related to reindustrialization and governance. This combination of executive experience, industrial insight, and board-level practice has made her a respected figure in French corporate governance.
