Insiders Trades Sigma vs WhaleWisdom
WhaleWisdom has been, since 2008, the best-known US 13F aggregation database. Hedge funds, family offices and retail investors use it to reconstruct large managers' portfolios from quarterly SEC filings. Sigma is a different game: not a 13F tracker, but a scored, backtested, multi-market insider-data platform with a public API and an MCP server. Here's where each wins.

Where WhaleWisdom wins
If your job is to reconstruct US manager 13F portfolios (Berkshire, Tiger, Pershing) over two decades, WhaleWisdom is the right tool. Their historical depth (2001), their multi-fund aggregation views and their cloning-tracking logic are mature. Sigma does not cover 13F today, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Where Sigma wins
Sigma aggregates insider filings (directors, executives, major holders) across 28 live regulators: SEC, AMF, BaFin, RNS (FCA filings via LSE), SIX SER, ASX, Consob, CNMV, AFM, FSMA, Oslo Børs, Nasdaq Helsinki, Nasdaq Stockholm, Nasdaq Copenhagen, SEDI, FMA and Euronext Dublin. If you trade SBF 120, DAX, SMI, FTSE or Nikkei, WhaleWisdom offers nothing. Sigma normalises currencies (EUR/USD/GBP/JPY etc.) and exposes a documented REST API from €19/mo, plus an MCP server callable from Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. Walk-forward backtesting with the Bailey-Lopez de Prado deflated Sharpe adjustment is a methodological standard WhaleWisdom does not offer.
Verdict
Not a head-to-head. WhaleWisdom for two decades of US 13F, Sigma for multi-market insider filings with API and MCP. Many teams run both.
