Thomas Baumgartner holds a key position in Mersen’s governance as Chief Financial Officer, a role he has held since March 2010. He also served on the Group’s Management Board from August 2011 to May 2016, during a period when the finance function was increasingly aligned with Mersen’s industrial and international strategy. His background combines deep expertise in corporate finance, performance management, financial planning, and organizational transformation. At a listed industrial group such as Mersen, which operates globally in advanced materials and electrical specialties, the CFO role is central to capital allocation, financial discipline, and long-term value creation. Before joining Mersen, Thomas Baumgartner started his career in 1996 at Crédit Lyonnais as a credit analyst and later moved into relationship management for large industrial accounts. That early experience gave him a solid foundation in credit risk, financing structures, and the expectations of major corporate clients. At Mersen, he has supported the Group’s international expansion and the strengthening of financial governance across a broad footprint. One of his notable contributions was the launch of the “Finance Excellence” plan in mid-2018, designed to engage finance and legal teams, accelerate digital transformation, and develop skills across multiple countries. In 2020, he presented this program at the Digital Finance Awards, where Mersen received an award recognizing the attractiveness and value of its finance function.
