Thierry Léger is the Chief Executive Officer of SCOR SE, the Paris-listed global reinsurer. His appointment was announced by the Board on January 26, 2023, and he officially took office on May 1, 2023; he was later confirmed in the group’s governance, including as a director approved at the 2023 General Meeting. A dual French and Swiss citizen, Thierry Léger holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from ETH Zurich. He began his career in civil construction before joining Swiss Re in 1997 as an engineering underwriter. Over more than 25 years in reinsurance, he developed broad expertise across property and casualty reinsurance, life reinsurance, and alternative reinsurance, which gave him a wide operational and strategic view of the industry. Before joining SCOR, he held several senior leadership positions at Swiss Re. From 2003 to 2005, he was part of the executive team in France as head of the sales team. In 2013, he became Head of Casualty EMEA, and in January 2016 he was promoted to CEO of Life Capital and joined Swiss Re’s Executive Committee. These roles strengthened his expertise in underwriting, capital management, client relationships, and risk discipline across multiple reinsurance lines. At SCOR, Thierry Léger is closely associated with the execution of the group’s strategy and the improvement of its technical and financial performance. SCOR highlights his experience, his command of both life and non-life reinsurance, and his disciplined approach to capital allocation and risk management. Since taking office, he has been a leading figure behind the Forward 2026 strategic plan, which emphasizes balance-sheet strength, in-house expertise, underwriting discipline, and sustainability. His long reinsurance track record makes him a central leader in SCOR’s governance and long-term positioning in international markets.
