Jeanna Steele serves as Sunrun Inc.’s Chief Legal Officer and Chief People Officer, having first become Chief Legal Officer in May 2018 and then assuming the expanded Chief Legal and People Officer role in December 2021. In her current position, she oversees the company’s legal affairs, people strategy, organizational development, health and safety, and responsible business practices, including governance, employee wellbeing, and environmental stewardship. Her Sunrun career reflects a clear internal progression: from March 2015 to May 2018, she held several leadership roles within the company, including Head of Litigation. Prior to joining Sunrun, she practiced law at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, giving her a strong foundation in corporate legal work and risk management. Steele also serves on the board of directors of the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, underscoring her broader governance and public-interest engagement. She earned a B.A. in English from McGill University and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. At a publicly listed clean-energy company, her remit is especially significant because it sits at the intersection of legal compliance, governance, workforce strategy, and operational discipline.
