Olivier Pomel is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Datadog, Inc., a U.S.-listed software company on Nasdaq focused on cloud observability and security. In his role, he is responsible for Datadog’s strategic direction, product vision, and overall execution. His background combines deep technical expertise with company-building and operating experience, helping shape Datadog into a leading platform for infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring, log management, and real-time analytics. Before co-founding Datadog, Pomel served as Vice President of Technology at Wireless Generation, a SaaS company serving the K-12 education market. There, he helped build data systems for teachers and grew the engineering organization from a small team to nearly 100 engineers in New York prior to the company’s acquisition by News Corp. That experience gave him practical knowledge in scaling technical teams, shipping mission-critical software, and leading product development in a fast-growing environment. Earlier in his career, Pomel held software engineering roles at IBM Research and at several internet startups, building a foundation in systems, data, and distributed software. He is also recognized as one of the original authors of VLC media player, which reflects an early commitment to open, impactful software work and a strong engineering pedigree. At Datadog, Pomel has overseen the company’s growth from an early-stage startup into a broad observability and security platform used across industries. His leadership has been associated with expanding the product suite, deepening the platform’s value for developers, operations teams, security teams, and business stakeholders, and guiding the company through significant scale.
