About Pierre VAREILLE

Pierre Vareille is a French corporate leader known for his extensive experience in governance across heavy industry, automotive, and materials businesses. A graduate of École Centrale de Paris and an alumnus of the Sorbonne, Sciences Po Paris, and the Management Control Institute, he built a career in large international listed companies, with a track record that combines operational leadership, strategic oversight, and industrial transformation. He began his career at Vallourec in 1982, where he held a series of management positions in manufacturing, controlling, sales, and strategy before being appointed chief executive officer of several group subsidiaries. That early experience gave him deep familiarity with complex industrial environments and with the demands of global competitiveness. He later moved into senior executive roles at several notable companies. He served as chief executive officer of Wagon Automotive, a British automotive manufacturer listed in London, and then of FCI, one of the world’s leading electronic connector businesses. He subsequently became chief executive officer of Constellium, a global supplier of value-added aluminum products listed on the New York Stock Exchange, a position he held until July 2016. Across these roles, he developed strong expertise in restructuring, operational performance, industrial excellence, and listed-company governance. Pierre Vareille is also widely recognized as an experienced non-executive director. He currently serves as Vice-Chairman and Lead Independent Director of Vallourec and as a director of Verallia, where his contribution supports strategic supervision, shareholder balance, and financial discipline. He has also served as chairman of BIC’s board and has held or continues to hold board positions in several other European and North American companies, including Outokumpu and Tenneco. His governance style is generally associated with rigor, performance orientation, and a strong focus on long-term value creation.
