About Patrick SAYER
Patrick Sayer is a French corporate leader known for his deep expertise in investment, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He currently holds a prominent institutional role as President of the Paris Court of Economic Activities, after being elected on November 8, 2023 and taking office on January 18, 2024. He had joined that court in 2014 as a non-professional commercial judge, which reflects a long-standing commitment to France’s economic and legal ecosystem. His career was built at the highest levels of finance and private equity. Patrick Sayer served as Chairman of Eurazeo’s Management Board from 2002 to 2018, a period during which the firm established itself as one of Europe’s leading listed investment companies. By the time he left the Supervisory Board in July 2023, Eurazeo managed more than €30 billion in assets, underscoring the scale of the platform he helped build. He remained on the Supervisory Board after stepping down from the Management Board in 2018. Before Eurazeo, he spent a large part of his career at Lazard, in both Paris and New York. At Lazard Frères et Cie in Paris and later Lazard Frères & Co. in New York, he notably became global head of mergers and acquisitions for the technology sector. That background gave him a strong command of transformation deals, valuation, and strategic growth through acquisitions. Patrick Sayer also played a leading role in French private equity as Chairman of France Invest (formerly AFIC) in 2006, reinforcing his status as a reference figure in the industry. From 2018 onward, he developed Augusta SAS, a family-owned investment company. His board experience in listed companies, including Valeo, and his connection to Theraclion, highlight a governance style focused on long-term value creation, strategic discipline, and support for innovative businesses. He holds degrees from École Polytechnique, Mines Paris, Panthéon-Assas University, and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. This combination of analytical rigor, industrial culture, legal expertise, and financial sophistication makes him a highly respected figure in French corporate governance and growth investing.
