Nicolas Hieronimus is one of the most prominent French executives in consumer goods and beauty. A graduate of ESSEC in 1985, he joined L’Oréal in 1987 as a product manager and has spent his entire career within the Group, building experience across France and international markets. From the start, he developed a strong reputation for marketing excellence, a deep understanding of consumers, and an ability to grow both mass-market and prestige brands in highly competitive environments. Over time, he moved through increasingly senior and strategic roles. He became Marketing Director of Garnier Laboratories in 1993, then took charge of the Garnier/Maybelline division in the United Kingdom in 1998. In 2000, he was appointed General Manager of L’Oréal Paris France, and later became International General Manager of L’Oréal Paris. In 2005, he led L’Oréal Mexico, further strengthening his international profile and his expertise in emerging markets. In 2008, Jean-Paul Agon appointed him General Manager of the Professional Products Division, and in January 2011 he was named President of L’Oréal Luxe. His career reached another level in 2013, when he became President of the Selective Divisions, covering Luxury, Active Cosmetics and Professional Products. In 2017, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Divisions, before being named Chief Executive Officer of L’Oréal effective May 1, 2021. Under his leadership, L’Oréal has reinforced its position in luxury beauty, fragrance and selective distribution, supported by strategic licensing agreements and a powerful brand portfolio. He has played a decisive role in expanding L’Oréal’s fine fragrance leadership globally, while also promoting innovation, beauty tech and the Group’s sustainability commitments.
