Mathieu Lefebvre is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Waga Energy, a French listed company on Euronext Paris that specializes in producing renewable natural gas from landfill biogas. A graduate of École Centrale Marseille, he has built a strong technical and industrial profile in renewable gases, biomethane, and energy project development. Before founding Waga Energy in 2015 with Nicolas Paget and Guénaël Prince, he spent a significant part of his career at Air Liquide, where he held several positions in research, development, and commercialization related to industrial gases and biogas. During that period, he contributed to some of France’s first biomethane injection projects, gaining deep expertise in the technological, regulatory, and commercial dimensions of the sector. At Waga Energy, he leads the group’s strategy, industrial scaling, and international expansion. Under his leadership, the company developed and deployed the patented WAGABOX® technology, which upgrades landfill gas into renewable natural gas that can be injected into distribution networks. His role goes beyond operational management: Mathieu Lefebvre is also one of the sector’s reference figures in France, regularly engaging with institutional stakeholders and industry players involved in biomethane development. He is notably active within the National Biogas Committee, highlighting his commitment to advancing the French renewable gas ecosystem. His career combines strong engineering credentials, industrial vision, and entrepreneurial leadership. As head of a fast-growing company, he has helped position Waga Energy as an international player with operations in Europe and North America and a clear mission: accelerating the energy transition through a low-carbon, local, and economically competitive solution.
