About Luc THEMELIN
Luc Themelin is a French industrial executive best known for his leadership of Mersen, where he has served as Chief Executive Officer since May 11, 2016. Before becoming CEO, he was Chairman of the Management Board from August 2011 to May 2016. His career at Mersen is notable for its long internal progression: he joined the company in 1993 as an R&D engineer, was appointed Director of the Braking Division in 1998, then Director of the High Temperatures Division in 2004. He joined the Executive Committee in 2005, became supervisor of the Electrical Applications business in July 2008, and then a member of the Management Board in May 2009. He holds a PhD in ceramic materials science. This background gave him a deep understanding of Mersen’s technologies, operating model, and end markets. Mersen is a global specialist in electrical specialties and advanced materials, and Themelin’s leadership has been closely associated with the company’s focus on innovation, industrial performance, and international growth. Over the years, he has overseen the group in markets linked to energy transition, power electronics, transportation, and demanding industrial applications, where technical expertise and reliability are critical. His management style has been shaped by a combination of operational rigor, long-term strategic thinking, and strong continuity, reflecting his decades inside the organization. In July 2025, Mersen announced a governance transition: Salvador Lamas is set to become Chief Executive Officer after the Annual General Meeting in May 2026, while Luc Themelin is expected to succeed Olivier Legrain as non-executive Chairman of the Board on the same date. This move highlights Themelin’s continued importance to the group and the board’s recognition of his experience. It also reflects his role in guiding Mersen through a period of strategic development and industrial transformation. Luc Themelin remains one of the key figures in Mersen’s modern governance and long-term industrial trajectory.
