Luc Poyer is a French energy executive known for his long-standing experience across utilities, hydrocarbons, gas, and renewable energy. A graduate of ESSEC, Sciences Po Paris, and a former student at France’s École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), he began his career at the French Court of Auditors, where he conducted audits of industrial companies from 1994 to 1998. He then joined Elf Aquitaine before holding several positions within Total, including Chief Executive Officer of Gas Andes in Chile from 2001 to 2003 and Director of the integrated Qatargas II LNG project from 2004 to 2005. From 2006 to 2008, Luc Poyer served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Poweo, where he helped create Poweo Production, a subsidiary focused on generating electricity from renewable energy and natural gas. This period marked an important shift in his career toward energy transition and more diversified power-generation assets. From 2009 to 2019, he led the French operations of E.ON, later renamed Uniper, with broad responsibility for electricity production as well as power and gas sales. In 2020, he took over the activities of France Nouvelles Energies, and in 2023 he founded Hylae Campus, a start-up dedicated to CSR training through micro-learning. At Voltalia, Luc Poyer was appointed an independent director in August 2023. He brings to the Board recognized expertise in energy project development, particularly in renewables, as well as deep experience in hydrogen, a field in which he has worked for more than ten years. In addition to his board mandate, he chairs the Appointments and Compensation Committee, a central governance role. He also serves or has served in several strategic and industry bodies, including France Hydrogène, the Franco-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Energy Impact Partners, McPhy, and Coriance. His career combines public-sector rigor, industrial leadership, and strategic insight in support of the energy sector’s transformation.
