Luc Benoit-Cattin is a French industrial executive known for a career that combines public administration, heavy industry, and specialty chemicals. A graduate of École Polytechnique and École des Mines de Paris, he began his career in the French Ministry for the Economy, Finance and Industry between 1988 and 1995, before serving as Technical Adviser to the Minister of Industry from 1995 to 1997. This early experience gave him a strong understanding of industrial policy, regulation, and the interface between the state and large listed companies. In 1997, he joined Pechiney as a plant manager and later became head of a business unit in rolling and aluminum. This operational role broadened his expertise in manufacturing, site performance, industrial organization, and transformation management in a capital-intensive environment. In 2002, he moved to CGG Veritas, where he successively served as Director of Resources and Operating Performance, Director of Offshore, and then Managing Director of Geophysical Services. From 2009 until mid-2011, he was also a member of the company’s Executive Committee. These positions strengthened his profile as a results-driven executive with a strong international and operational mindset. Luc Benoit-Cattin joined Arkema in March 2011 and was appointed Executive Vice President, Industry and member of the Executive Committee effective July 1, 2011. At Arkema, he oversees critical industrial and sustainability-related functions, including safety, environment, sustainable development, quality, technology & construction, process, logistics, and goods and services purchasing. His remit reflects Arkema’s emphasis on industrial excellence and responsible manufacturing, with safety, health, climate, and environmental protection positioned as core priorities in the Group’s CSR approach. He has remained a key member of Arkema’s top management structure over time, underscoring both continuity and strategic trust. Beyond Arkema, he has served on the Board of Directors of the École Polytechnique Foundation since 2016 and on France Industrie since 2021, reflecting a broader commitment to France’s industrial ecosystem and engineering community. Overall, his career illustrates a senior leader who bridges public-sector insight, operational discipline, and ESG-oriented industrial governance within a major listed chemical group.
