John Browett is a seasoned British retail executive and is best known today at Maisons du Monde as Chairman of the Board and an independent director. His career reflects deep expertise in multi-channel retail, e-commerce and the turnaround of consumer-facing businesses operating in highly competitive markets. In June 2025, he was appointed an independent director of Maisons du Monde and then elected Chairman of the Board by the board meeting held after the Combined General Meeting on 26 June 2025. The company highlighted that his more than 25 years of leadership experience in retail, in the UK and internationally, would be a major asset in helping accelerate the group’s transformation. Before joining Maisons du Monde, Browett held several top leadership roles. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Dixons Retail from 2007, and later became Senior Vice President of Retail at Apple in 2012, where he was responsible for retail strategy and the global expansion of Apple’s stores. Apple stated at the time that he came from Dixons Retail, where he had been CEO, and that he had previously held a number of executive positions at Tesco, including CEO of Tesco.com. Earlier in his career, he advised retail and consumer goods clients at Boston Consulting Group. His profile is that of a retail operator with strong strategic and operational credentials, particularly suited to businesses that must balance brand desirability, customer experience and commercial performance. At Maisons du Monde, his appointment fits into a broader governance reinforcement and transformation agenda. The board has entrusted him with oversight, strategic supervision and support for the acceleration of the company’s transformation, in line with the demands of an omnichannel, international home furnishings group focused on execution and growth.
