Jean-Marc Chéry is a seasoned French industrial executive widely recognized for his long-standing expertise in semiconductors, manufacturing operations, technology, and large-scale transformation. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) in Paris, he began his career in the quality organization of the French industrial group Matra before joining Thomson Semiconducteurs in 1986, later renamed STMicroelectronics. Over the years, he built most of his career within ST, taking on progressively broader responsibilities across product planning, manufacturing, and industrial operations. This progression eventually led him to lead key production sites, including the silicon wafer fabrication facilities in Tours and then Rousset. At STMicroelectronics, Chéry distinguished himself through his ability to manage complex industrial and organizational transformations. In 2005, he successfully led the restructuring program for ST’s 6-inch wafer manufacturing operations before taking charge of Front-End Manufacturing activities in the Asia-Pacific region. His career advanced further when he was appointed Chief Technology Officer in 2008, with additional responsibilities for Production and Quality in 2011 and Digital Products in 2012. In 2014, he became Chief Operating Officer, overseeing manufacturing operations and technology for the company. By July 2017, he was Deputy CEO with responsibility for manufacturing, technology, sales, and marketing. Since May 2018, he has served as President of the Managing Board and Chief Executive Officer of STMicroelectronics. In this role, he leads a global semiconductor company positioned at the heart of the Intelligent Industry and central to the automotive, energy, and sustainable technology value chains. His background reflects deep operational discipline, technological leadership, and the ability to execute at scale in highly competitive markets. He has also held influential industry-facing positions, including leadership roles in European microelectronics R&D initiatives and semiconductor trade organizations. Within Capgemini’s governance framework, where he joined the Board of Directors in May 2025 as an independent director, he brings strategic insight shaped by his experience leading a global technology manufacturing company, along with recognized expertise in artificial intelligence, industrial strategy, and the automotive and energy sectors.
