Jean-Jacques Barbéris is a leading French executive in asset management, institutional investing and sustainable finance. Since 2019, he has served as Head of Amundi’s Institutional and Corporate Clients Division and ESG, while also sitting on the group’s Executive Committee. In more recent corporate materials, he is additionally described as Deputy CEO / Deputy Chief Executive Officer, with oversight of certain international activities, including the Middle East and Scandinavia. His remit therefore combines client leadership, business development and responsibility for ESG strategy. Before joining Amundi, Barbéris built a strong public-sector career in France’s economic administration. He began in 2008 at the French Treasury, where he worked first on climate-related economic issues and then on financial markets. From 2010 to 2012, he represented the French state on the enforcement committee of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers. In 2012, he joined the office of the Minister of Economy and Finance, focusing in particular on business financing and contributing to the creation of Bpifrance. In 2013, he moved to the office of the French President as economic and financial adviser. This background gave him deep expertise in economic policy, financial regulation and long-term financing. He joined Amundi in 2016 as Head of Sovereign Client Coverage, then took responsibility for institutional client coverage in 2017 before expanding into corporate clients and ESG. His expertise is especially visible in the design of investment solutions for institutional investors, corporates, pension funds and public-sector clients, with a strong focus on energy transition, governance and the integration of non-financial factors. At Amundi, he has played a role in strengthening shareholder engagement and stewardship on climate, biodiversity and portfolio resilience, while supporting the development of retirement and long-duration savings solutions. A graduate of the École nationale d’administration, the École normale supérieure Lettres et Sciences Humaines and Sciences Po Paris, and a history agrégé, Barbéris represents a rare blend of senior public administration, corporate strategy and responsible finance. At Amundi, he is one of the key voices on the structural transformation of the European asset management industry.
