Stéphane Dedeyan is a well-known executive in life insurance and the governance of French financial groups. A graduate of HEC, the French Institute of Actuaries, and INSEAD’s AVIRA program, he began his career as a consultant at Eurosept and then AT Kearney before moving into the insurance industry. In 1996, he joined Athéna Assurances, where he helped build a captive brokerage platform, CARENE. That early assignment gave him a strong understanding of distribution, brokerage, and the construction of commercial networks. He joined Generali in 1999, initially as an occupational risk inspector in Generali Proximité, and then moved through a series of increasingly senior positions: head of businesses and partnerships, sales director, and deputy chief executive officer. In 2006, he became chief executive officer of Generali Patrimoine and joined Generali France’s executive committee. Over time, his responsibilities expanded from savings products to digital, marketing, and distribution across Generali’s full French operations. From January 2014 to December 2017, he served as deputy chief executive officer of Generali France, with responsibility for all insurance businesses. During this period, he also chaired the Personal Insurance Committee of the French Insurance Federation from 2011 to 2017, strengthening his sector influence. After advising startups and investment funds in 2018, Dedeyan joined the VYV group in October 2018 and became its chief executive officer in February 2019. This role confirmed his ability to lead complex mutual-based organizations with a strong social mission. He was appointed chief executive officer of CNP Assurances on 16 February 2021 and took office after the annual general meeting on 16 April 2021. Since then, he has been responsible for the group’s operational management within a governance framework where the board sets strategic direction and management executes it. He also holds responsibilities within La Banque Postale, where he sits on the executive board, and he chairs the Fonds Stratégique de Participations. His career reflects deep expertise in insurance, commercial transformation, and the governance of large listed institutions.
