Bertrand Devillers holds a key operational leadership role at Fermentalg, a French industrial biotechnology company focused on biosolutions derived from microalgae. According to Fermentalg’s official leadership page, he serves as Chief Operating Officer and is part of the group’s senior management team alongside the Chief Executive Officer and the Financial Director. His position reflects a profile centered on execution, organization and industrial scaling within a listed company that has progressively strengthened its operational maturity. Before taking on this operational mandate, Devillers was identified at Fermentalg as Chief Financial Officer, a role he had held since July 2017 after serving in an interim capacity in 2016. His background is strongly rooted in finance, controlling and corporate transformation. He graduated from HEC and holds a degree in business law from Université Paris-XI. He began his career at Docteur Pierre Ricaud, then joined GIAT Industries, where he held several financial control positions, including roles covering Europe and North America. He was later appointed CFO of Esterline Souriau, before moving to Alter Telecom as Director of Finance and Operations. In 2014, he took on a transitional CFO assignment at Recommerce Group. At Fermentalg, Devillers played an important role in supporting the company’s shift from a research-led model to an industrial and commercial business. In a Sage customer case study, he said that the ERP implementation was instrumental in structuring processes, supporting purchasing, inventory, commercial activity and subcontracting, while also improving quality traceability and regulatory documentation. This illustrates a practical approach to governance: securing execution, professionalizing management tools and enabling growth. His expertise sits at the intersection of finance, information systems and change management, with a clear understanding of what it takes to scale a deeptech company in a listed environment.
