Aurélien Hamelle has served since January 2024 as President for Strategy & Sustainability at TotalEnergies SE and as a member of the company’s Executive Committee. In this role, he oversees key corporate functions that shape the group’s long-term direction, including strategy and markets, sustainability and climate, government affairs, HSE, internal control and audit, and legal affairs. His position places him at the center of strategic decision-making for one of the world’s major integrated energy companies, particularly as it manages the transition toward a multi-energy business model. Before taking on this appointment, Hamelle was General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Acquisitions & Disposals at TotalEnergies. That background gave him deep experience in complex transactions, corporate governance, regulatory matters, and risk management—skills that are especially valuable in the energy sector, where legal, industrial, and geopolitical constraints are highly interconnected. He began his career as a regulatory and dispute-resolution lawyer, including as a partner at Allen & Overy in Paris. His academic background reinforces this blend of legal, institutional, and strategic expertise. He holds a degree from Sciences Po Paris and graduate degrees in law and management from the Universities Paris-Nanterre and Paris-Dauphine (PSL).
