Alessandro Dazza is the Chief Executive Officer of Imerys, the global leader in specialty minerals. Trained as an engineer, he graduated from Politecnico di Milano with a degree in business engineering and has built a career in industrial operations, materials, and international business leadership. His professional path began in Italy in 1991, before he joined Treibacher Schleifmittel in Germany in 1995. There, he took part in a management buyout alongside key managers and joined the company’s management board, gaining early experience in strategic ownership change and operational leadership. When Imerys acquired Treibacher Schleifmittel in 2002, he joined the group and spent more than ten years in a variety of roles across the organization. In July 2013, he was appointed Executive Vice President and member of the Executive Committee, with responsibility for three divisions generating approximately €2 billion in sales. In 2018, he moved to Mondi Plc, where he served on the Executive Committee and oversaw two divisions with combined sales of around €4 billion. He returned to Imerys and was named Chief Executive Officer on February 17, 2020. At the helm of Imerys, Dazza has focused on operational discipline, cash generation, portfolio resilience, and the company’s role in the energy transition. His recent public communications highlight priorities such as mineral innovation, decarbonization, supply chain sovereignty, biodiversity commitments, and long-term value creation. He has also been closely associated with strategic initiatives such as the EMILI lithium project and Imerys’ climate roadmap. Overall, his profile combines deep industrial expertise, international exposure, and strong experience leading complex businesses in cyclical markets, making him a prominent figure in French listed-company governance and the specialty minerals sector.
