François de Mitry is a well-known figure in investment management and listed-company governance, with a long-standing connection to Wendel. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a postgraduate diploma in Finance from Paris-Dauphine University, as well as a degree from the Institut d’études politiques in Paris. He built his career in investment and private capital over several decades, beginning at HSBC and then joining Société Générale in 1991. In 1997, he moved to Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), where he rose to Managing Director in 2005. His career took on a new dimension when he joined Astorg in 2012. At the European investment firm, he became Managing Partner in 2018, reinforcing his standing as a senior private equity executive. His expertise spans investing, strategic analysis, transaction structuring, and oversight of portfolio companies in international environments. Over time, he also developed a deep understanding of the governance of listed companies, which Wendel has specifically highlighted as one of his strengths. François de Mitry has a close and enduring relationship with Wendel. He served on Wendel’s Supervisory Board from 2004 to 2012, and returned to the Board in 2021. He is also a Director of Wendel-Participations SE, the group’s main shareholder vehicle. In his role on the Supervisory Board, he brings a long-term investor mindset, experience in value creation, and strong insight into governance, audit, and compliance matters.
